I just finished re-reading Anne of Green Gables as an adult, and raising an ADHD son (red-headed, too!) - I also think Anne is definitely ADHD. Come to think of it, I'm sure many of our childhood heroes - the wildest, most creative, most-likely-to-get-into-scrapes, surely were too. I was googling to see whether any research has been done on this and found your blog.
By the way, I used to have the same wish - give me a job where I can get paid to read. When I finaly got my wish (editor) it was rather disappointing I'm afraid, because it's much nicer reading on the couch or in bed than by your desk at work. The books were dull, too. So I changed my career...
Better luck with yours!

Hey, glad to have you back in the game, even if it is with a negative review. I usually don't have a problem with writing something negative, though like you, I do sometimes think about the off-chance that an author might happen upon it. While I'm sure, as people, their feelings can get hurt as well as anyone else, I'm also sure as published authors they've got to expect a bad review from time to time. You can't please everybody, right? Besides, your negative review was one of the nicest ones I've seen!

"Moonbeam on a Cat's Ear" was my first Marie Louise Gay book. It was a gift for my daughter but I didn't much care for it. Skip ahead several years and two more children, and the "Stella and Sam" series are a favourite! If it is true that you can't judge a book by it's cover, then it must also be said that you can't judge an author by one book alone.

Stella and Sam books are a top fav of mine as well. I am very lucky to have a signed copy of Good Morning Sam. I don't know where you can some of her art, but here is website where you can print a bookplate that she designed. http://www.myhomelibrary.org/plate.php?name=Marie-Louise_Gay&n=1&ext=jpg&size=medium

Actually, I don't think I have read any of her other stuff but I have read all the Stella and Sam books. I just can't get over how gorgeous the illustrations are and how well she has captured the questions and responses that are part of young childrens' worlds! I was really quite serious about wanting to frame some of her art and place it near my desk...so if anyone knows how I can get my hands on some...

I've seen a few of this series around but have wondered about any books not in the series-- have you read any of those?

By the way, I love that we have a picture book already added to the list. I didn't realize Marie Louise Gay was Canadian.
